Participants will have the opportunity to dye their own designs onto a T-shirt and Japanese paper, and take their creations home. ◉ Location The experience takes place at "Iwai Senko," a company specializing in kimono dyeing located in Kyoto. This company has over 100 years of history at this location, where traditional dyeing techniques have been passed down and are still practiced today. "Iwai Senko" operates with a philosophy of preserving tradition while maintaining a broad perspective. ◉ About the Host The host, Takayuki Iwai, is a skilled craftsman and the next in line to become the fifth-generation president. He continuously hones his kimono dyeing skills, creating works that blend traditional techniques with modern sensibilities. He is deeply passionate about his family and his work. With his kind and gentle demeanor, he provides careful guidance to participants, sharing the beauty of dyeing. His aspiration is to enrich the lives of those who wear kimono and to help add color to their lives. ◉About the Culture Kyoto's traditional craft of dyeing is a cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations. Through this dyeing technique, participants can experience and connect with Japanese traditional culture, gaining insight into its historical background and the depth of its craftsmanship. ※ Schedule for the Day 1. Gathering & Registration- Meet at "Iwai Senko" in Kyoto. 2. Explanation of the History and Techniques of Dyeing- Takayuki Iwai will explain the history and techniques of dyeing. 3. Hands-on Experience- Participants will dye their own designs onto a T-shirt and Japanese paper. 4.
